Benadé, Joyce

Biography: Mrs Joyce Benade is a lecturer and program coordinator for the Diploma Hospitality Management at the Richards Bay Campus of the University of Zululand. Her interests are modules with a practical component such as Culinary Studies, Events Management, Hotel Hygiene and Safety, Food and Beverage Studies. She finds teaching through practical application challenging yet very rewarding. In 1991, she started teaching Home Economics at John Ross College in Richards Bay. In 1992 joined the University of Zululand as Laboratory Assistant in the Department of Consumer Sciences. In 1997 was appointed as lecturer. In 2005 the university received a mandate to develop a Diploma in Hospitality Management to be offered at the new campus in Richards Bay. Banade was tasked to develop the program which was approved in 2010 and the first intake of students was in 2012, and she was transferred to the Richards Bay campus to coordinate the program.
