- Management and implementation of entrepreneurship in institutions of higher learning in South AfricaThe study explored the importance of management and implementation of entrepreneurship in institutions of higher learning, using a selected university in South Africa as a case study. Qualitative method was adopted for data collection from eight (8) randomly selected students from four (4) faculties in that particular institution of higher learning. The findings of the study show that infrastructures, policies, university curriculum, amongst others affect the management and implementation of entrepreneurship in the selected university. Further findings suggest that if students registered at the university graduate with entrepreneurial skills and ideas of how to become entrepreneurs, it will be easy for them to be able to start and run their own businesses. However, few responses of participants suggest indifference in the idea of managing and implementing entrepreneurship as a module in higher institutions of learning. The study recommends amongst others that the curriculum at universities should include core module (s) that are centred on entrepreneurship, while policies are made to promote entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial activities in institutions of learning. Also, students studying at universities should be encouraged to start entrepreneurship projects and seek funding from industries.

- First year students in different universities in South Africa are usually confronted with series of challenges when transmitting from high schools into the universities. The environments most times are different from what exist in their high schools. The focus of this paper was to explore the academic hurdles confronting the undergraduate students at a rural university. Robert Havighurst's developmental task theory which talks about different problems faced by people at different stages of life was the theory that underpin this qualitative study. Twenty first year students were engaged in focus group in-depth interviews. Thematic content analysis of the data revealed themes that were findings of this study. Findings revealed that first year students, especially at the rural university were confronted with academic challenges such as problems of academic writing in higher education, teaching and learning in English, lack of computer knowledge or skills. Findings further indicated that the students also experience challenges in social relationships and access to support services in the universities due to their socio-economic background. The study therefore recommends that all stakeholders should provide adequate and necessary support services for the students to integrate them appropriately into the system.

- 2020| Allied Business Acad...Entrepreneurship remains a major subject considered relevant to proffering solutions to challenges of unemployment across various continents of the world, South Africa inclusive. However, in spite of the need for entrepreneurship, the approach with which entrepreneurial activities are conducted contributes to the success or challenges experienced in various entrepreneurial spaces. This study explores the role of role of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) in proffering solution and contributing to the success of entrepreneurial activities in developing nations, using rural areas in South Africa as a case study. Relevant literatures were reviewed in relation to the subject matter. The findings of the study show amongst others that Work Integrated Learning aids collaboration between institutions of learning and firms within and around the host communities of the universities. Also, such collaborations tend to help students practically in their academic pursuits. Hence, the study recommends that Work Integrated Learning should be promoted in various higher institutions of learning.

- The study explored the relevance of rural university education based on the experiences of learning challenges among undergraduates in selected rural universities in South Africa and Nigeria. Quantitative research design was adopted for data collection. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 934 students who served as participants for the study. Data were collected through the use of questionnaire which was analysed using descriptive statistics and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The finding of the study reveals that undergraduates in the two selected rural universities experience common learning challenges amongst which include: cognitive, poor academic foundation, and lecturer-students’ relationship. These are caused by lack of facilities, students’ family socio-economic background, amongst others. The study recommends that rural university education should be improved upon in order to make it more relevant, otherwise, it remains irrelevant to both the students and nations.
